Computer Network Technology
TE IT 2nd Semester (A. Y. 2019-20)
A computer network is a digital telecommunications network which allows nodes to share resources. In computer networks, computing devices exchange data with each other using connections (data links) between nodes. These data links are established over cable media such as twisted pair or fiber-optic cables, and wireless media such as Wi-Fi.
Educational Opportunities in computer network technology
Computer networker handle network issues and install, maintain and repair all hardware associated with connections between computers. They work with wide area networks (WAN) and local area networks (LAN) to ensure the networks are operating efficiently.
Computer networking specialist certificate programs usually focus on a specific networking technology vendor. Coursework covers network implementation, routing, network security and network hardware.
Associate's degree programs in computer networking take two years to complete and cover more computer topics than certificate programs. Students learn to manage databases, troubleshoot computer operating systems, work with fiber optic technologies and design networks.
Four-year bachelor's degree programs in computer network engineering sometimes have concentration options, such as LAN networking or Internet technology. Students learn to work with virtual private networks, create Internet programs and develop networks.
